Bicycle Christina to Castlegar (over the top)

Type of Bicycle: Mountain Bike
(rentals available)
Length: 5 hours + 1.5 hour for Shuttle
Difficulty: Moderate

We transport you via our shuttle vehicle to the start of the line at Paulson where you'll begin this scenic journey to Castlegar, most of which is downhill. Our guide will be equipped for any difficulties which might arise, and will show you all the historical features along this route that the average traveler would ride right by. You'll pass over numerous trestles and ride through the kilometer long Bulldog tunnel….don't forget your headlight! You'll pass by the remains of ghost towns and rail stations, and usually see an abundance of wildlife as you pedal along this 2% grade. A superb lunch will be served along the way. Your final descent is into Castlegar where the Van will transport you back to Christina; there you can be rewarded by a plunge into the warm waters of the Lake.

Cost
$99/person (includes lunch) Minimum group size 4 people. Bike rental extra.

Eholt to Christina Lake Bicycle Adventure

Type of Bicycle: Mountain Bike
(rentals available)
Length: 5 hours + 1 hour for Shuttle
Difficulty: Moderate

This is a delightful ride that almost anyone can do, and the stop at the Cascade Gorge waterfall and Rainbow Rock near the end makes it one of the most beautiful as well. We shuttle you to Eholt, once a major rail town with a roundhouse and engine repair shop, now a ghost town West of Grand Forks. The rail grade descends along the beautiful North Fork Valley, with two short tunnels and great vistas of farmland. Riders enjoy lunch at the Station Pub restaurant, a fine restoration of the original CPR stop in Grand Forks. Our ride continues after lunch, following the banks of the Kettle River, one of BC’s Historic Rivers. The new trail surface is the smoothest in the province, and the elevation is almost flat. The stop at Cascade Gorge is simply spectacular, with the best view of the Falls from Rainbow Rock, where we’ll take some photos. A nice descent into Christina Lake is the perfect ending for this memorable trip.

Cost
$89/person (includes lunch) Minimum group size 4 people. Bike rental extra.
(Group discounts for groups of 6 or more)

Descend the Dewdney by Mountain Bike

Type of Bicycle: Mountain Bike
(rentals available)
Length: 5 hours + .75 hour for Shuttle
Difficulty: Moderate - some previous single track experience

Part of BC’s original gold-rush trail is right in our back yard, and it is sweet single track all the way down! We transport you to the Santa Rosa Summit where the air is crisp and the trees are tall, then guide you almost entirely downhill on this historic trail, now part of the Trans Canada Trail. We’ll wind through deep cedar groves and sunny meadows, past abandoned farms and some quaint country homesteads on this day of adventure. We’ll stop for a bite by a bubbling brook, and then make our way down the final descent to return to WildWays for a cool drink.

Cost
$79/person (includes lunch) Minimum group size 4 people. Bike rental extra.
(Group discounts for groups of 6 or more)

Trestles and Waterfalls Bike Tour

Type of Bicycle: Mountain Bike
(rentals available)
Length: 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy

This is our least strenuous ride but has some of the most spectacular features on it. We begin our ride from WildWays, then enjoy an easy ride to the TCT, a few short km’s away. We cross over the Kettle River on the longest trestle to span its width, and then ride on to the Cascade Gorge, where the view of the Falls from Rainbow Rock is breath-taking. This is the place to have your camera! Then we pass over a shorter trestle, which spans the mouth of the gorge and pause to reflect on the historical significance of this site, where Nicola Tesla first produced AC electricity. Our final descent to Christina Lake lets the wind blow through your hair, as we return to enjoy a complimentary drink at Jimmy Beans Bistro.

Cost
$59 per person. Minimum group size 3 people. Bike rental extra.
(Group discounts for groups of 6 or more)

Paulson to Christina (downhill all the way)

Length: 3 hours

We transport you to the top of this section of railgrade in the WildWays van, and guide you down the 2% grade to Christina Lake. The three-hour descent from Paulson Bridge is highlighted by another trestle, a tunnel, and some fascinating history of towns like Coryell and Gladstone, now just foundations crumbling into the earth. If you carry on the rail grade, the next stop is Fife and the old Limestone Loading Tower, once the source of minerals for the Trail Smelters. The history is rich along this route and best seen with our knowledgeable guide who will show you all the secret spots along the way that most people miss
