Day
Four: Hotsprings
and historic Nelson
Today we'll take the van over the pass to Nelson. Surrounded
by the Selkirk Mountains on the shores of Kootenay Lake, Nelson
is in many ways a cosmopolitan city with the charm and character
of a small town. There are parks and self guided tours in
and amongst its 350 heritage buildings. An easy walk down
Baker Street brings you to an eclectic mix of shops, boutiques,
galleries, restaurants, and cafes. You can choose to discover
the town or ride the trails. For those that want to ride,
there's the scenic rail grade high above town or knarley single
tracks and stunts. The choice is yours. You can eat lunch
at a sidewalk cafe, and as the afternoon fades, we'll head
to the soothing magic of Ainsworth Hotsprings. You can swim
in the outdoor pool, splash in the frigid cascading waterfall,
soak in the hot mountain spring or venture inside the mountain
and see where the steaming water issues from the earth. A
long soak in the springs will melt every ache in your body,
and tomorrow will be a new day! There's something for everyone
here. |
