This lake kayaking trip is one you will remember forever.
We transport you to the north end of the Lake where
we hop into our fleet of day-touring kayaks and teach
you all the basics of kayaking you need to know. Then
we explore the shoreline and discover the wealth of
paintings left by the original inhabitants of the area,
the Interior Salish. You can even bring your fishing
pole and cast for bass along this rocky shoreline.
Then we'll celebrate our trip with a champagne toast
at the end while we watch the sun set over the Monashee
Mountains. This
is a scenic and historical paddle you will not want to miss!

Arch Hike & Kayak

This
spectacular stone arch is reported to be one of the largest
in North America. It spans 45 m (149 feet) across a gully,
and is 34m high (112 feet). It is only accessible by
water and a short hike.
We take the WildWays van towards Castlegar
and get into our kayaks on the Lower Arrow Lake. A short
paddle (1/2 hr) in our stable lake kayaks will get us
to the foot of the trail to the Arch. From there,
a short
but steep hike (about 1 hour) up the hillside trail will
bring us to one of the most awe inspiring natural features
in BC. “The view of the arch from the lake does not
prepare you for the magnitude and grandeur of this amazing
geological formation…Sitting under the arch, one
sees the lower Arrow Lake and the Norns Range framed in
stone.” (Karen Holden, naturalist).
We will enjoy a delicious trail lunch while taking in
the fabulous views from the arch, then slowly make our
way
back to Christina Lake. This trip is moderate in difficulty
(the trail is short but steep) though no prior kayaking
skills are necessary. Sturdy hiking shoes are helpful
for the 1.5 km trail to the arch.
Cost

lunch, shuttle and use of kayaks) 4-10 people group rates available
