Snowshoeing Under the Stars
Full Moon/Hotsprings Getaway
Upon arrival at the Green House Retreat Centre on Friday guests are greeted by our staff and encouraged to warm themselves by the fire as they unpack and settle in.

A tempting selection of local wine and beer and tasty appetizers are nearby in the dining area. Guests may relax by the fire, soak in the hot tub, or unwind in the sauna while waiting for everyone to arrive.

Whatever your pleasure you'll easily begin to feel at home in the comfortable turn of the century style retreat.

After a leisurely dinner, we'll get together for a slide show and fireside orientation.

Mornings come to life at breakfast. Cradle a warm cup of coffee or tea and
choose from a variety of breakfast options to get you started. Today is our
first chance to get out on the trails, and there's a wide variety to choose from.

The small number of guests ensures lots of
personal attention and room for privacy

We might find ourselves meandering along beside a stream with huge cedars hanging overhead or up in the alpine trails surrounded by snow ghosts and shimmering crystals.

We'll bring snowshoes and snowskates for an invigorating morning.

Welcome to the great outdoors. Snowshoes allow us to go to some amazing places. Whether you are out front blazing trail or walking a packed one, you'll soon find yourself caught up in the beauty that surrounds you. Our trained guides will talk about the natural rhythms of the seasons and the local history and ecology of the area. Discovering animal tracks, along with bird and tree identification are popular activities.
Snowballs and Snow Angels often appear on this frosty frolicking adventure.

There's something about the cold fresh air in winter that makes a pot of soup taste sensational. You'll be welcomed back by the smell of fresh bread, hearty soup and a lunch buffet.
After lunch the rest of the afternoon is for rest and relaxation. You may read, play games, write in your journal, or take a walk around the peaceful surroundings of the Green House grounds.

The afternoon is yours before we regroup in the late afternoon. Then it's time for hors d'oeurves and light snack before the invigorating evening snowshoe adventure.

People are always amazed at how bright the full moon appears. The full moon acts as a mirror reflecting the sun's light, when that light is reflected yet again on the snowy white landscape, the effect is dramatic. The forest in the higher elevations reveals an architecture of both bare and snow laden branches against a brilliant star studded sky. We'll point out the dominant evening stars, constellations, and planets as we move out from the tree lined trails and into the open sky spaces. A thermos of steaming hot chocolate will be a welcome treat before heading back for the dinner that awaits us.

If ever a no-holes-barred meal was needed, now is the time. Tonight's meal is our guests opportunity to sample what the Green House chef does best.

After coffee and dessert, evenings by the fire in the studio may be filled with songs and stories and the hot tub and sauna are always available. Some guests may want to linger and socialize into the wee hours while others may choose to retire early, a decanter of Port and tray of dried fruit and aged local cheeses awaits all.
The finest ingredients come from our on site organic garden.  Meals are designed for both health and pleasure.
Ainsworth HotSprings
Sunday will find us on the road to BC's most unique Hotsprings. We will travel through Nelson, a beautiful small city full of culture and small shops. We will also try out one of the local cafes for a steaming latte on route. Ainsworth Hotsprings is perched on a hillside, where you can soak in the pools and drink in the view of the Selkirk Mountains on the far side of Kootenay Lake.

Ainsworth has a rich history, but its most famous feature is the cave that goes back into the mountain. It is well lit so one can see the limestone formations that adorn the walls and ceiling where the natural mineral water drips in. For those that like it HOT there's even a dark grotto you can climb into where the hottest water issues out of the mountainside. The cold plunge just outside the cave is also natural spring water, and sets your skin on fire between hot soaks. After a long soak, your driver will get you safely back to the GreenHouse for dinner, where you can relax in the feelings of peace and contentment that the Hotsprings give.
